The DSM-5 Diagnostic Manual does not count hyper-emotionality as an integral part of ADHD– even though increasing research is revealing that it is indeed a core aspect. Immaturity is both psychological and physical in ADHD, influenced by a disruption and delay in development of the emotional control system.
